How Refrigeration System Works ?

Refrigerator is a device which pump the heat from low temperature body to high temperature body.


Refrigerator works on various types of cycles like vapour compression cycle and vapour absorption cycle. Hence components of refrigerator also change according to the cycle used.
Now we discussed the Vapour Compression Cycle which is widely used in our homes.

*Vapour Compression Cycle System.

Component Used in VCC System is given below -

1.Evaporator.
2.Compressor.
3.Condenser.
4.Expansion Valve.

1. Evaporator  -   The Function of evaporator is to absorbing the heat from our product like milk, water etc.

2. Compressor  -    Compressor compressed the refrigerant to increase its pressure and temperature .

3. Condenser    -      The Function of condenser is to reduce the temperature of refrigerant.

4. Expansion Valve  -  Expansion Valve is used to reduce the pressure instantley




 *How Refrigerator Works in VCC System.

Process (1-2) Compression.
Compressor compressed the Refrigerant from low pressure P1 and temperature T1 to high pressure P2 and temperature T2.It convert the liquid Refrigerant into Vapour.
                                                      
Work done = h2-h1

Process (2-3) Condensing.
High pressure and temperature refrigerant enter into condenser at constant pressure & temperature.In it vapour refrigerant converts into liquid refrigerant.

Process(3-4) Expansion.
The liquid refrigerant is expanded to a low pressure (P4=P1) and temperature (T4=T1).

Process(4-1)Evaporation
The liquid and vapour mixture of refrigerant is evaporated and changed into vapour at constant pressure and temperature
The heat which is absorbed by the refrigerant to change its phase from liquid  to vapour is called Refrigerating Effect (Re).
Re = h1-h4 = h1-hf3
C.O.P = Re / Workdone

COP = h1-h4 / h2-h1
